Aktion West-Ost

Aktion West-Ost organizes international meetings between youth and young adults from Western, Central and Eastern European countries. We conduct educational work in the political, religious and social sectors and invite multipliers to training sessions. We create tools for meetings and intercultural learning and realizes field excursion.

Aktion West-Ost is the umbrella organization of the four catholic youth organizations Adalbertus-Jugend, Junge Aktion der Ackermann-Gemeinde, Gemeinschaft Junges Ermland and Junge Grafschaft. As a working group for European peace issues“, it is a member organization of the German Catholic Youth Association (BDKJ). Aktion West-Ost was already founded in 1952 and has its roots in youth organizations of the Catholics who have been expelled from present-day Polish and Czech territories. The founders were convinced that peace can only grow through understanding and forgiveness. Today our groups maintain diverse contacts with Central and Eastern Europe. The member organizations have permanent partner groups in Poland and the Czech Republic, respectively, and hold regular events and meetings with them.
